About The Opera HouseThe recently renovated Boston Opera House has rapidly become one of the ideal theatre venues in Boston. The first Boston Opera House was built in 1901 on Huntington Avenue in Boston, Massachusetts. Unfortunately the first Boston Opera House was declared unsafe and subsequently demolished in the 1950s. In the 1970s, the Opera Company of Boston purchased the Savoy theater (B.F. Keith Memorial Theater) and re-opened it as the Opera House. It had success for quite a long time but eventually fell into disrepair and was closed in 1990. The Boston Opera House re-opened in 2004 after significant renovations that were paid for by Clear Channel. |
